What do professional baseball and insurance companies have in common?

In a new 30-second ad, the liberal group Americans United for Change says professional baseball and insurance companies are alike in that "baseball and insurance are the only industries exempt from antitrust laws."

 

FACT: Both baseball and the insurance industry DO have an antitrust exemption.

HOWEVER: these industries are not the only ones exempt from antitrust laws. Other industries, including agricultural cooperatives, fishing cooperatives and maritime shipping, have what are known as "general" antitrust exemptions.
